“In this mammoth ten-page cover tutorial, which originally appeared in issue 105, ZBrush master Scott Eaton explores how to sculpt an anatomically correct female figure, starting from a lo-res blockmesh, and gradually refining the details of the body.
You can download the PDF of the tutorial below, along with full-sized screenshots of key steps, and Scott‘s original ZTL files.
The tutorial is accompanied by screen-capture video showing the entire sculpting process in more detail. Note that this is intended only as a workflow video, and does not have an audio commentary.”
WOW this went by really fast! Pixologic has announced the winners of the Action hero contest and there are some really epic heros who have won! Check them out, be inspired and get to work!
Here is a video that just started off with the incredibly simple and powerful concept that every two year old child seems to know instinctively.The concept of play. Just get going, mess around and see what direction develops naturally. Don’t think, just do it.
It seems that as we get older we tend to loose a little bit of the magic behind this. We can’t just “do”. We need to have the comfort of an idea, no matter how abstract it may be, then develop a plan with goals and milestones. Through all this ‘bureaucratic’ creative process we loose that raw infinite imaginative ability that takes us further down the rabbit hole, further than we may care to go in some cases. However the journey may be more important than the end result.
From the creator;
I was just playing around in Zbrush late at night while watching TV, and a hour and a bit later I finished making this. The video was sped up 5x so its not like 50 mins long. I wasted quite a bit of time at some parts just playing around with stuff, lol. Anyways, I love Zbrush.
Pixologic is proud to announce our second official contest, with more sponsors and even bigger prizes! All registered ZBrushCentral members are encouraged to enter.
In order to participate in Pixologic Inc.’s Action Hero Contest (the “Contest”), all potential participants must agree to abide by and comply with the rules set forth below (the “Rules”). Failure to comply with the Rules may result in your submission (or “Entry”) being disregarded and you being disqualified from the Contest.
The challenge this time around is to create an original superhero or villian and show him or her in action. Imagine yourself to be a newspaper photographer, capturing your subject at a key point of the fight against his archenemy in what is sure to become a Pulitzer-winning shot. Except that you’re doing it in 3D, creating a full figure sculpt of your hero.
Obvious takes on established characters are not permitted. Your creation must be a hero that has never been seen before in any media. Invent a one paragraph back story for your character, describe the hero’s primary powers, then bring him or her to action-packed, crime fighting life in ZBrush.
